My battery on 2008 Eddie Bauer is dying and I need to replace. Dealer says I should buy the more expensive 850 CCA battery but there is another 650 CCA battery on sale for 25% less. Can I use that in Wis (summers) and Florida (winter)?

From the factory I believe that all the Explorers came with the 850 CCA battery (at least that is all I have ever seen). Honestly, since you are saying it will be used in the Wis. summers and Fl. winters I see no problems with just putting in a 650 CCA battery, but know that if for some reason you have to go back to Wis. in the middle of winter the vehicle may not start after parking it overnight.

How much were you going to spend for the 650AMP? You can snag an Autocraft (Johnson Controls) 850CCA for $102.00 right now. At Advance Auto, apply Promo Code DOW34 to get $40.00 off the $142.00 battery.

Also, it has been my experience that the dealership never cleans the battery connectors/terminals and that leads to bad readings from the tester. FYI, I am still on the original battery and just now considering replacing it since it is down to about 630 CCA and the dealership has been trying to get me to replace it for at least the last year.

I just put an 875 in mine....start with much more authority now. Also, made the transmission shift more smoothly from 2 to 3. But be the adaptive shift. But, I am tickled about it.

This truck runs better now than it did when I bought it over 4k ago.
