1997 Explorer Sport
I just bought a 1997 Explorer Sport. The factory Clarion cd changer skips badly. I understand they are know for this. Have been quoted $135 to fix this. Am looking for a replacement that won't do this but it is very confusing to find what is compatible that will still work with all the controls, front and rear. Has anyone had success replacing these units? Am not looking for a top of the line replacement, just basic 6 disc cd changer at a decent price. Thanks.

I dont know, my 97 changer never had a problem until one day it stopped working. I bought a replacement for $65 I think, from someone here on the board about a year ago. Works perfect.

Search eBay. I recently sold mine on here for like $65 to another user, worked perfectly. eBay has them used for half of that price. I would suggest getting an aftermarket one, but will cost just as much to replace, besides, not really worth it unless you plan to upgrade quite a few things in your system.

Or you could just get a new HU w/ the cd player built in and not worry about having a changer.... :p
