replacement light bulbs for gauges

i have a 97 explorer one of the lights burned out i know which one it is but i dont know the size my chilton manual doesnt say either anyone know what size sylvanias website says 194 161 906 or 1815 please help

I believe that the 194 will work. I dont remember for sure as its been a couple of years since I was in there.
Anyone else???

There are eighteen #74 (if i'm not mistaken) bulbs behind the gauge cluster, and six #194. the #74 light up the individual system lights (ie. E. brake, 4WD HI/LOW, battery, low fuel, etc.) and the #194 light up the main gauges (ie. fuel level, speedometer, odometer, etc.)

i replced my gauge clluster with one out of a 2001, and replaced all the bulbs with LEDs. i didnt like the look of the #194 cause they have a narrow beam pattern so parts of the gauges are dark.

the only one i didnt replace was my THEFT light, because it uses a normal LED, one you can buy at radio shack for $0.30. a few extra steps to replace that one. i didnt bother since it was already a LED.

with the #74 are they are the wedge type correct? i plan to replace them all if i am really going to get back there but i dont want to order the incorrect type

I have heard they are 194 from multiple people, so thats what I would go with if I were you.

This is the back of my old "95 gauges. i replaced mine with 2001 gauges and they are basically identical.

These are the actual bulbs out of them. The one in the left is is the 194's and the one on the right is the 74s (the actual bulb number is 37 but it is 74 on that site)

I posted earlier that there were seventeen #74, but i recounted and there are actually eighteen. And there are six of the #194s.

I've got a burnt out light thats for my fuel gauge on my '95 ford Explorer. What all does a guy have to do to remove so I can get a new bulb in there
