Replacement Remote

I just bought a 98 XLT but it didn't come with a remote or the code for the door. Where do I get a new remote and how do I figure out the door combination?

First things first; the factory code is located on a sticker on an electronic module in the front part of the driver's side rear ( jacK ) compartment.

You can get the remotes at any Ford dealer or for less ( usually a lot less ) money on e Bay.

You can buy and 3 or 4 button remotes on ebay (3 is correct) with the picture of the locks on them, not the one that say lock/unlock. Programing is easy just follow the steps in the owners manual.

To find the code for the keyless entry: remove the jack cover at the rear left side you will see a box looking forward. Get a mirror and a light and look at the side facing inward torward the center of the truck. There is a 5 digit code in fairly big numbers. If it is real dirty you can take it out, that is what I did when I bought my 98.

You guys are awesome. I'm really glad I found this site. This is my 2nd Ford truck but my first with 4WD so I'm very excited. I discovered the same day I bought it that it needs the trans rebuilt but I found a get place that really knows what they're doing. I got a great deal on the truck and the dealership is giving me money towards the cost of the rebuild so it's not as bad of a deal as it sounds.
