Replacing brake lines.

Hello -

Last week my 06 ex blew the brake line: from ABS unit to the brake hose at the caliper.
Luckily, it's the front left. So it's the shortest one, easiest to remove and the cheapest.

I got it from Ford for $ 30.
Looking at those braided connections, I can tell the other 3 are not far behind so I am collecting part numbers, and any advice from people who went trough that.

So far, I found these Motorcraft part numbers:

LF = BRTF96
RF= BRT13
LR - ????????
RR = BRTR63

I can't seem to find the left rear line part number.
Anybody ?

Also, has anybody replaced the rear lines ? How difficult was that ?

You can probably call a dealership parts department and get the number.

Thread started almost a year ago. I'm dealing with the same problem, how did it work out to replace the rear lines? The front drivers side blew a leak first and when bleeding the brakes a rear line blew out.

Luckily, the front left was the only one I had to replace. I was just trying to collect part numbers just in case.

This doesn't answer the O.P. question but if someone is in need of one of those lines and can't get the Ford part in time, one can be made. The front left went on my Ranger, I picked up a standard brake line, cut one end off and added the ABS fitting and flared the line. Of course I had to bend the line to fit plus it was only $5 or $6. It worked fine for years after that.

The front brake line with the stainless braided vibration arresters for the 2006 - 2010 Explorers are no longer available from Ford. Have fun making them.
