Hello everyone,

I did a quick search in the forums, but couldn't find this answer. If it's already been covered, I apologize in advance.

A friend of mine has a 1997 Explorer and the map light burned out. She "claims" to have tried to replace it but the cover won't come off.

I've never actually been in her vehicle, but I told her I'd look at it this week sometime. Here's my question.

Is this a simple flathead to pry off the cover of the light, then replace the bulb? Or is it more involved than that? She doesn't have a Chilton's manual (etc.) for me to reference when I actually get inside the vehicle.

Thanks
Steve

yes, there should be a small divot that the screwdriver will allow it to be pried back.

The bulbs should pull out direct.

Yup- once the clear cover is off, remove the "nut" looking thing on the burned out side with the same screwdriver (1/4 turn and it falls out in your hand or with a gentle pry) and the bullet bulb is behind it...
