I hate to say this, but I also own a Jeep. Say what you will, but it's a fun toy. So here's what's going on...I have to replace the clutch one of these days because of the lack of moving its suffering from right now. I have a few questions though. I already purchased the DF Centerforce that's going in but....

1. How do I tell if I need a new throw out bearing, and what exactly is the throw out bearing?

2. How do I tell if I need to resurface the flywheel? Where would I take it to do this?

3. Is there anything else I'd need to know about replacing a clutch?

Thanks!

replace the TO bearing, its on the shift fork... i didnt on my toyota when the engine was out last motnh, and now its going and i wish i had done it then.. its a $30 part for the Centerforce one.... from what i have been told, its best to resurface the flywheel but if you just scuff it up with a piece of sandpaper it should suffice.. i didnt do anything to mine other than hit it with brakeclean and it works awesome......

Do I have to get the Centerforce one with the CTF clutch? Or can I just find a generic one at NAPA or AutoZone?

I changed the clutch in alot of CJ's very simple straight forward job, should take no more than 2 hours beginning to end.Check real close for cracks in the flywheel:)

lol....my 10-12 hour body lift took me 3 days  So I'm thinking I should plan for a full day's worth of work

Body lifts do suck especially on older CJ's
