Can anyone help me with advice to replacing my ECU? I want to do this right, but am unsure. I was informed from a mechanic that there is a prong or prom(?) that I have to remove from my ECU and place in the new ECU. Is there such, and what does it look like? Is it as easy as I've heard? My truck ran fine, then I parked it a day. Went back to start it and all it would do was crank, but not turn over. A mechanic told me I needed a new ignition coil. Replced that, no change. Then they said it was my fuel pump. Replaced that, and same thing. Then I was told my two different places that it was my ECU. So, I went through heck, and found one on the other side of the country. Now, it is here, and I have to put it in... Please help if possible.

There must've been lots of testing to come to the conclusion of a bad ECU. A prom is a little chip inside your ECU. This site may be of use to removing it: http://www.quasimotors.com/fi_board.htm
