Hey Gang,

New to the site, but a familiar user of VBull.

I'm at my 2nd time around replacing my front headlight bulbs on my 98 XLT, and must ask.. is there any easier way to replace the bulbs than squeezing my hand down the front latch provided under the hood, right behind the headlight?

I have fairly big hands, and trying fit my hand down there is a pain in the ass.

Thanks in advance to all replies

Yes...... I believe you can just remove the 2 top phillips screws and just pull the whole assembly out, towards the front. It works that way on my 01.

The only other way is to take the headlight assembly out. What RippinF7 is describing is the corner lens only. The headlight assembly is held in by some PITA tabs that aren't nice to get out. You could remove your air filter box for the right side and your battery for the left side, it may help.

You may be correct on your model, but on my 01 the entire unit pops out. Lucky me, huh ?? I guess the headlights are subject to heavy engineering revisions from year to year.

Good luck dsmooth

Umm...yes the entire unit does pop out. BUT the 2 screws hold in the corner lens only. Your headlight and corner lenses are not one piece. If they are I would be amased. This is true for the 4-door only in '01. The sport is a different story.
