Hello all, been a while since i've posted, recently finished my PCS move to Stuttgart, Germany and of course shipped the "X" over. Vehicle arrived fine and dandy with no dings or dang. Either way, just curious to know if I should replace the current fuel filter in the X seeing the lowest octane over here is 90, highest is like 95-97? The fuel filter was replaced before I purchased it back in Nov 07, but seeing its 4 years later with 83k miles added since 75k at the time of purchased, just curious to know if it would be required.

Other than that, the vehicle runs/handles great on the autobahn. The fastest I got it up too was like 167kph (100 mph) on a straight away, steering wheel didnt shake or vibrate seeing I replaced both lower control arms and upper and struts. Also a little strange having to use the KPH rather than MPH. I must say driving overseas is a hell lot safer and smoother than stateside, its weird to see discipline on the road at high speeds. Amazingly the vehicle passed German Mechanical vehicle inspections too which 95% of American cars fail on the first attempt, number one killer is inoperative parking brake. Ill try to get some pictures posted of it next time my wife is with me.

I can't even pass the annual inspections here in Canada due to the parking brake. I never use it so it falls apart. It wouldn't hurt to change your filter but I wouldn't say it is necessary.

Octane rating doesn't matter. It wouldn't hurt to change the filter, though.

i would just change it...piece of mind...

must be cool to drive the autobahn...i always wanted to see and drive that road...goodluck with the move and everything

thanks for the recommendation guys, one day this week will swing by hobby shop and do the change.

Yeah the autobahn is real nice.. roads are smooth, majority of the time the lanes are three lane highways. The beauty about traveling in Germany is, its easy to get around and fast seeing the autobahn techincally doesnt have a speed limit, it has a recommended speed of 130KPH (78MPH), but the thing about driving here is cameras up the ying yang, so following the driving rules is stricitly recommended or you will get your picture taken and get a nice ticket in the mail, you cant pass on the right, cant cruise on the left lane unless passing cars, and for the most part people move out of your way when they see you coming.

As mentioned earlier on one my original post in this thread, didn't take a picture, but was able to get my wife to take a short video of us on the autobahn where the "end of restrictions" sign had a started a while back.

Sign: Basically meaning end of speed Limit, no passing zones, etc.

Video: Might not seem like I am going fast cause everyone else is practicully doing the same speed. Also thought the video doesnt show it, I still get passed fast at 100MPH by other cars. I'm very glad I replaced my upper/lower control arms, strutts, hub bearings both front/back, wheels, tires (running Goodyear Fortera HL), brakes, shoes cause the vehicle handles just about the same at 100MPH compared to roughly 70MPH.
