@donalds Yes, the driver's side rear wheel has to come off even with the rear up in the air. One thing I try to avoid is taking the fuel line(s) loose from the FP assembly unless necessary. I did it that way on first pump I changed, but never had to do it that way again. For me that's the toughest thing to do. I disconnect everything (other than the 2 front tank bolts and the tank strap) through the rear driver's side wheel well, drop the rear of the tank to the ground, leaving the front of the tank wire-tied to its bracket, then and loosen/remove the FP assembly retaining bolts. Knowing how to release the various hoses and wiring connectors is a learning experience.
Yep the fuel lines suck
Now that I have a new fp assembly
No more quick disconnect s for this guy
That's how I would do it let her hang
Swap just the pump unless of course I or the op
Needs a sending unit ...fp regular ... gas gauge..
Everybody here is overthinking it, just dig a giant hole under the truck and use that, all that's required is one 2nd gen Explorer and a hopefully sharp shovel. No jack required and plenty of room to drop said tank.
(I'm not serious unlike Cober or whatever his name was, do not do this)
