Ok so I've been searching the forum for a little while now and just can't quite find the info I'm looking for. But anyway I have a 97 explorer 4x4 that needs a new transmission. I'm picking up a donor explorer that's a 2001 with a rebuilt 5r55e but a bad engine. So far from what I've read here and on other sites online it almost seems easier to swap the trans from the donor to my rig along with any other parts I may need. My main question though is this, would it be better to just swap my good engine into the donor that actually has fewer miles or swap over the trans/transfer case and anything else from the donor that's in good shape? Also any advice or possibly what to expect when replacing this trans would also be greatly appreciated!
