Replacing Stock headlights...need help

I have been wanting to replace my stock headlights with some of the better lights, such as the APC one's or PIAA bulbs, and I don't want to have to pay someone to do this, I have been trying to figure out the best way to get into where the light housing is, so that I could change them out myself, but the battery on one side and the air something on the other side seems to be in the way. No, I am no too mechanically inclined, but I can do minor projects. The question being how does one get to the light bulbs in an easier fashion? Or do I have to remove the battery out to get to it? I haven't bought the replacements yet, until I figure this out. Any help on this would greatly be appreciatted.... Thanks in advance.....

I'm sorry but have ya read the owner's manual?? It should tell ya how.

As for the light bulbs, I recommend the SilverStars. It's relatively cheap compared to PIAA's and wont melt the wirings like the APC or Hyper Industries, etc...

Well, no I hadn't given the thought as to reading the manual, as I just figured that something like that wouldn't really be in there, but I will look. I figured that with so many people changing out their bulbs and all, perhaps someone had already done this before themselves and could give some insight... anyways, thanks for your help, the idea of using the other type bulbs, hadn't heard of those.... will check into it... thanks again.......

The correct size bulbs to use for them are the 9007 right???? Anyone........

you just stick your hand in there and turn the little spin on clip........ i have big ole hands so on hte right side, i took out my battery and did it that way...... the sileverstars are awesome

ok, I will relook at this situation when I get home, I was afraid that I would wind up having to disconnect the battery to do this, I am not found of having to mess with the battery area to disconnect it, but I guess it won't hurt anything... hopefully....... especially not me...lol

By the way, since 2 people have now confirmed that the silverstars are awesome, can someone tell me where to get them, do they have the blueish look to them when they are on?

they are slightly tinted glass with blue. but appear to be more white when on.... they do not appear blue when on and they are 100% dot legal

you can get them at pepboys, kragens, autozone, places like that......

you have a 2003, i am not sure on hte battery placement on those, mine was a 94........

if its anythink like my moms 96 though, there are little flaps that you lift up and they allow full access down there

Yours use 9007 bulbs. The SilverStars have a white beam to it with a little hint of bluish-purple on the sides.

Just wanted to say that I bought the Silverstars yesterday and even put them in myself.... It wasn't as hard as I thought, all I had to do was get my hand in the tight spot between the grill area behind the light housings, which was a very tight fit, let me tell you, but I got it, took like 10 minutes, I love the new lights. Thank to all that posted on this and helped me out on this, normally I would have bought the item and just paid someone to put them in for me, but with guidence, I can now do things myself.
