reset computer

i had a new muffler put on my X. I noticed that when they did it on previous X's they undid the battery to reset the computer. I am pretty sure that they did not do it this time. any reason why they might not have done it this time? what are the affects of this (if any)?

maybe they were in a hurry or a new guy may have done it. id reset it.
