i was considering making custom LEDs boards for my brake lights but i was wondering which resistors to get if i was to put them there.. im pretty sure its standard 12V power but idk what resistors to buy... i was planning on doing like 10 or 15 per light... any help would be appreciated

...just off the top of my head i want to say there was a writeup on this and something about a problem that the led brakelites cause to the computer or brake system...sorry, i can't remember but there is a writeup ...:dunno:

here, use this link; http://www.quickar.com/noqbestledcalc.htm

the system can be generalized as a standard 12V but it has current spikes most of the time so as with the voltage. with normal 5mm LEDs it would matter/hurt it that much but if you are using high output LEDs maxing out at 70mA it does matter.

just make sure you have all the specs of the LED and array that you're planning on using and then create your circuit from there.

i'm currently building mine up inch by inch and it is still in the R&D stage. i'm trying to incorporate LED's in the OEM tail lights but i might just end up cutting out strips and replacing them with clear lexan to create that mercedes style stripe tails, but like what i said its still in the research stage for the best lens material to use..

goodluck with yours!

man that site is great... i just purchased 50 X 265000mcd(edit) 10mm super white LEDs and im gunna do a little work and make a sweet board and put it in the reverse lights... we'll see how it goes when they come in

i have mine on its way :D ever since i saw those LED reverse lights on the newer cadillacs i was instantly sold on using them on my project tails. i sure bet that they would be bright enough.. i have the 10mm 135K MCDs and used them for my interior lights and they are sweetly bright

bright is definately gunna be an understatement haha... i had a board with 2 15k mcd 5mm LEDs in my interior domes forever until the resistor messed up because i got the wrong resistor... i thought that was bright haha and now im making 2 LED boards with 9 10mm 265k(edit) mcd LEDs for the reverse lights... i just cant wait to see how much light they put out
