I was just wondering if anybody has any smart ideas on throwing a little more candle power out of the back of the X. For example, better brighter bulbs in the stock reverse light holes, or adding those towing lights either below your bumper or up high. What has worked? What was a waste? If anybody has pulled this off and thinks they got a good idea I would love to hear about it. I just want to have a little more light available in back, connected into the reverse light circuit or not. Some of my friends have absolutely no idea how to spot and I would like to be able to see a little more from the seat.
I would definitely consider doin a rear light bar, I put one up front.

I'd use the search engine to look for reverse light options. I know there are many on here.

Moving this to the lighting forum.

I currently have halogen bulbs in my stock housings. I plan to go with one or two flood lamps on a relay/switched circuit controlled by the stock circuit.

I mounted a set of lights under my rear bumber and just tapped the wiring into the stock reverse lights wiring harness. Easy to do and works great.

I did kinda the same thing as Bentley, but I ran my lights to a switch, because they are pretty bright. They are KC lights, and the best part is, there were holes already in the bumper, so I did not have to do any drilling :D

edlmann,
Did you notice a good change with the halogens? Was it noticeable at all?

Thanks

Thats nice, I like how the lights are at the same level as the tow bar, they look better protected then just lights hangin down. Im kinda hesitant to do any lights down, I dont have the lift so those are gona hurt my departure angle. I would consider doing something similar except hanging from my roof rack...
thanks

The halogen bulbs definitely make a difference; however, I still want to go with a separate set of flood lamps, on a relay controlled by the backup switch.

Here are a couple of pics of my setup:

Mine are wired to turn on with a switch on the dash or automaticly when I shift into reverse. They really made a big difference with double limo tint on the back windows.

hey bigtigexplorer, thats a nice setup i wanted to do that originally but couldnt figure out how to mount them up there. Did you drill some holes? How did you mount it?

The fog lights came with 3m double stick tape. Its held the lights on there for a good two years now. Never had any kind of problems with them coming loose.

you can buy brighter replacement bulbs at autozone for your stock bulb sockets.
i think mine were 5-7 bucks for both. and they are bright!
