Reverse Off Road Lights

12 gauge is fine. it will actually handle higher a current load. Kinda big though.

A relay is far cheaper than a truck fire.

I'm going to be getting the wiring and switch from Walmart so I was wondering. I think 12 guage is all they have. I checked out one of the switches there, and the back said that I would have to buy something else for the switch in order to attatch the wires to it. What would that be? It confused the hell outta me :(

Probably some type of flat pin connectors. It's hard to say without knowing what it says you need. I don't think 12 gauge would be a problem. You definitely won't fry your wires anyway.

Next time I run into town, I will check out what the package says. It's quite foggy today, so it won't be today

This should help out, same concept, unless you want your lights triggered by the standard reverse lights and the switch, then it get's a little more complicated but not bad. Where it says "Brown wire in Main headlamp switch: Parking Lamps" that can just be any 12v + Positive source.

More than likely the part you need for the switch is just female disconnect connectors like this:

Walmart should have them, different colors are different wire gauges

Okay thank you

I found a switch that I can loop the wire through the prongs of the switch. Then I'll just Electrical tape the bare spots haha Where would I be able to find a relay? I checked Walmart and they don't seem to have one

Any decent auto parts store should have a relay.
12ga wire will be more than adequate.

Sorry off topic a little but can I wire 6 offroad lights to one switch or should I get more than one

Yes you can. You'd use the switch to control multiple relays.

I think bolting lights to the bottom of your rear bumper would end up tragic. It would on my exp. I would tear them off in less than five minutes. If you do bolt them there you better build a heavy gauge box around the bottom of them.

I never thought of that, but I don't do a whole lot of off roading, just some doughnuts in a muddy beanfield is all I do basically, oh and tearing up the minimum maintenence roads after it rains is always fun :D

If I didn't want to build a box around the ligths, I could always mount them on the luggage rack facing backwards. I just need them for when I back up at night anyways, especially after I start driving with my newborn daughter in a few weeks. I'm trying to make the truck safer

Ive had some on there for several years now and have only recently lost one. That was also because I was trying to climb rocks where Jeeps had problems. Go figure. personally I think that is an okay spot to mount them. And the benefit of having light back there is amazing.

Oh and if someone will not shut their damn bright lights off behind you a quick flip of a switch will remind them to be so kind.

Good news is, I did get a spot light mounted on the rear bumper. I lights up an area about 25 feet wide and 75-100 feet behind me. Spotlight is I think a 100 Watt and it came off a tow truck :D I just hafta stop fiddling with the switch because each time I do, something happens and I don't get power to the light. But that's a problem for another day
