So I'm planning on buying a V8 explorer within the next week or so (currently own the V6 SOHC). I'm going to be doing the SOA and putting 35x12.50's on it. Does anyone know the backspacing and offset I would need on the rims so there is no rubbing? I'm assuming there will be rubbing in certain spots, but I'm prepared to do the trimming.

Also, could anone tell me if the V8 explorer came with the 4x4 high and low range option? Every one I find is either AWD only or 2WD, my current explorer is AWD but also has the 4x4 high and low range.

Thanks

Your going to need some lift & a bunch of trimming to clear those tires. More lift=less trimming. For a no rub issue and no trim, you will need at least 7"-9" of lift.
Do a search in the suspension/ fabrication section

As far as Backspace goes, most of us run a wheel with 3.5" to 4" BS.
Do a search in the wheels & tires section.

The 5.0L only came with the AWD or 2wd. To get 4wd with it, you will need the AWD (has the trans tail housing for the t-case) and swap in a 4406 t-case or something like an Atlas. Do a search on the 4406 swap in the trans section.

You have 4wd in your 2000. The AWD your thinking of is actually control trac 4wd. Your front axle is a live axle and is engaged when wheel slippage is detected in the rear.
Do a search of the control trac t-case to understand more on how it works in the trans section.

Thank you, that cleared some things up for me.
