Rockers

Hi guys, I'm new to this forum as I just bought my 99 Explorer. I'm looking at replacing my rockers. My question is if I get the full ones instead of the slip ons will they sit over top of the rockers that are there or do I need to cut out the entire piece?

I repaired both the l/s & r/s rockers on our 99 Sport & I used the slip on pieces & cut what I needed from those pieces & cut out the rotted sections & welded in the slip on pieces. Pages #- 3, & 4 show the repairs I did. I was not to concerned with it looking great as I was reinstalling the rocker moldings & they covered 90% of the work. With the rocker moldings installed & the new side steps installed it hides most of the repair work. Is yours a 2 door or 4 door?. I have a 4 door. For some reason I can bring up your pictures. I wasn't sure about the slip on because there's not much for it to slip onto as the drivers side is pretty rotted. Also need to replace inner rocker on drivers side. Think I could get away with flat piece and slip ons? BTW I don't have a welder so would be pop riveting in
