Hello all,
First time poster here so I apologize if there is an exact thread about the issue I am experiencing but I couldn't find one with the exact symptoms. I am extremely mechanically inclined as well so any advice I'm open to at this point. I have a 2002 Explorer Sport 4.0 4x4. For a couple of months I had the occasional check engine light come on. I hooked up my scanner and then cleared it. At the time I didn't have time to fix it and since it was downstream O2 sensor not a huge issue. Finally I have some time and did the repair last week. New sensor is now on but some issues are still prevalent. For a while its had a rough idle. If I put a load on the engine such as turning on ac it almost eliminates it. Gas mileage has not improved either after the new sensor install. 315 miles was what I could normally get on a tank and its still after the new sensor around 190-208 miles per tank. I cleaned the MAF couldn't hear or visibly see a vacuum leak and looked at a few other possible culprits. I did get the new update to the software on Tuesday but its still noticeable. Anyone have similar symptoms or have a solid resolution. Thanks all in advance. LONG LIVE EXPLORERS!!
