The IA key fob is a piece of art, that being said my keys live a hard life. I dropped my keys on the driveway the other day and the chrome edge band broke. I have since glued it back in place. I have searched the internet and have had no luck finding a rubber type protective sleeve type case. Does anybody know of a place to get one?

One other thing, I modded my key, I hate the panic button. I am male, 6'1" and weigh 230 pounds. I am really not that concerned about being mugged or raped, but I do hate when it goes of accidentally. If you disassemble the key, you can cut a small piece of electrical tape and cover the contacts for the panic and never have to worry about accidentally setting it off again.

Great ideas!

I have set mine off with my keys in my pocket on several occasions. I'm 6' 2" and fairly lean, so size isn't the problem.

Gel Cover

If you guys ever see a cover, please let me know.

I contacted a manufacturer in China - Hong Kong. They are working on something...

Thanks

He's saying he doesn't feel threatened by much and so he doesn't need the panic button. Not that his size is causing him to hit the button.

It could be worse my dad starts his truck all the time with the remote starter. It used to be really bad, but they were able to set it so you had to hit the button twice to start it, and he still managed to do it a couple of times a month.

I like the Explorer, The lock and double click on the remote start is an unlikely accidental combination.

size doesnt count for much when a tweaker or gangbanger lookin for an initiation kill gets you in his sights,, he doesnt even have to get close, just pop a cap onyer butt from 10 fifteen feet away, nothin beats bein prepared, he can weigh hundred ten pounds, hin and his nine mill but one them in your heart is still just as lethal,

And how does a functioning panic button protect you from said gangbanger?

It doesn't, but the 14 rounds of 9mm, plus the backup mag with 19 rounds sure does help!

The only use of the panic button is finding your car in a parking lot if you forget where it is.

I myself have never activated a button accidently and carry the key in that small pocket (coin/watch) in my jeans. When not wearing that type of pant, I usually carry it in my jacket pocket.
I would think that if you are getting any kind of cover, it should be a hard non-fexible cover. Just my 2 cents.

it wasnt the point,, when a 9 year old is willing to stand toe to toe and swap shots with heavily armed police, size and weight is no protection from injury

I thought that too and had a good laugh :)

The idea of pressing your panic button as someone pumps you full of lead is rather comical, hehehe.

I made two very tight wraps of electrical tape around the panic button end of the fob. I have not had an accidental panic button alarm since.

Just contacted thejacketstore and they said the FOB cover for the IA Key will be available in mid May.
Does this mean that using the FOB will now become a two-handed operation if the cover has to be removed to operate it?

If it's like their other ones, no. Pictures show cutouts around buttons.

Okay, now I'm back to my normal state. Confused. Isn't the idea of getting the cover to prevent accidental triggering of the buttons?
