2001 mountaineer 5.0, doesn't happen all the time but when starting from a dead stop & especially while turning from a stop it will sometimes make a rubbing sound. you have to be moving for it to make the noise. feels like it's coming from the body - I can't identify specifically where it's coming from. it's not the tires as we've checked those & there are no marks. I changed the brake rotors & pads all around thinking they may have been grabbing but that didn't fix it, although it did need new rotors and pads fairly badly. would the awd system be acting up & causing this? not one clue what it would be. it's actually been doing this for many months & not gotten worse, just somewhat annoying.

Any chance its the suspension?

shouldn't be, I've changed (in the past year) the upper & lower ball joints, sway bar links, all shocks, front hubs, - can't exactly tell where it's coming from either, that's why I'm leaning towards the drivetrain or something like that. really can feel it through the whole car.
