Ruh Roh.. cv bind I think. abs light on?

I was doing ball joints on a 2004 XLT 4x4 today. I got them all done and now when the wheel is turned it binds. It binds bad enough to actually stop the truck until you give it enough gas to move it and then it kinda bangs and then moves and then does it again. I did not have a axle socket to get the nut off the axle so I just kinda tied it up out of the way.. I think i may have extended the axle shaft too much and it separated. It drives fine straight. Just not when I turn.. Could it be the abs sensor? Because the abs light is now on and it was not before.

Any idea where the "bang" is coming from? Wheel or center under your dash? I ask because my front differential went bad and the bang I had came from there.

Defiantly from the wheel area not the pumpkin.

I just pulled it back apart and the wheel spins freely at full lock both ways when its in the air. no CV bind. And I took the abs sensor out and put it back in. nothing weird. The abs light is still on. Was not before. I don't know how an abs sensor can cause this though..

I unhooked the ABS sensor from the harness and there is no binding and popping now.. But why would this cause it? And these things are expensive..
