Running board chrome

After this long, long, winter in New England, my 2007 ST Limited has begun to show a few signs of age.

The running board "chrome" has started to degrade. It looks like rust underneath the layer of chrome is starting to bubble up through the plating.

Can this "chrome plating" be purchased as an OEM part?
I've looked around but the schematics I've found haven't been very clear or helpful.

Any help including part numbers or part supplier websites would be greatly appreciated.

Truck gear direct used to make chrome aftermarket ones for the sport trac. All they have listed is bull bars on their site now, but if you give them a call they may have some old ones in stock. Prices and shipping were quite reasonable.
