Had what I thought was a bad lower intake gasket due to a major loss of coolant. I replaced the gasket and now Its running like crap. I have no water on my dipstick but it looks like steam is coming out of the oil cap. Could this be from the prior leak and will it burn off or should I redo the job again? The egine is a 96 4.0

Can you describe crap? Is it running rough at an idle, then get better when you increase the RPM? If thats the case theres probably a vacuum leak in the intake manifold.

It will stall unless I have my foot on the throttle

Did you check to be sure all vacuum lines were reconnected properly?

I think they are but Im looking for a pic to be sure

If anybody has a pic that would be great

i just did this myself and found out how mutch of a tool i am when i forgot to clean all the gasket off the uper intake and had the firing order all jacked so start hunting for a hiss and get some carb cleaner and just do some shots at difrent locations to see if it revs on ya ;)

recheck the spark plugs wires. On my 2000 4.0L 4-5-6 are not in sequential order on the coil pack.
