Washington does not use salt on their roads in the winter, but there are some visible cracks in the first picture.

Anyway to combat this? Or, just replace the bumper:(

the BEST way is to replace
otherwise hit it with a grinder and paint it with a rattle can

You may be able to polish some of that off with some fine steel wool and some chrome polish. I'd do that before I got too drastic. As for the cracks, it looks like something bent or dented the bumper.

Yeah, the bumper has the trademark "grin" on one side:

I'm guessing my aunt slid it into something on one of the vacations up to Whistler, BC.

I think I'll try buffing it out first, like you suggested. Eventually I'll get the bumper replaced, along with the mounts... Would this be an easy job to do myself?

thanks guys!

Unfortunatly chrome bumpers usually rust from the backside of the bumper out. They don't finish them very well on the backside. So really the only permanant way to fix it is replace it.
