I have seen that there were some earlier threads ( 2011 2012) about some explorers that had this problem. But I have not seen a fix for this.
Here some history on the truck about a year ago i replaced the fuel pump.
It has 270000.00 miles on the truck.
I just replaced the valve cover gaskets.(don't think its related)
I have had this problem intermittently prior to replacing the fuel pump for about a year. Sometimes when I am driving highway speeds 65mph I feel a hesitation does not seem to matter if the truck is hot or cold.
If I am in heavy traffic slow moving then get up to highway speed then back down to slow speed 10mph and waiting at a light truck would be at operating temperature. Then I turn left the truck hesitate around the curve I feather the peddle and then the truck keeps going. I don't make another left turn for 15 miles and its fine at the next left turn.
Thank you for your time.

weird, sounds like fuel pickup on the pump, so Is this hesitation consistent, not dependent on the amount of fuel in the tank (empty vs. full tank)?

could it be wiring inside the pump, or the pump being loose in it's housing(moves just enough to disconnect slightly on left turn).

Damn, that's a lot of miles!
Did you replace the fuel filter as-well? How many miles on your spark plugs and wires?

It sounds to me as if you have intermittent misfires happening while under load. ie.65+mph, also turning puts the engine under a load. Does it happen under hard acceleration? uphills?
I would start with checking for "pending codes" Our trucks take a long time(if at all) to set the check engine light for misfires when it's only intermittent.

Also for the turning, (foot off the gas pedal) the idle air control valve could be intermittently sticking. This is easy to clean. Clean throttle body and MAF sensor while in there.

bdmaash.
it does not matter if tank is full or 1/4 full.
I am about 90% sure fuel pump motor was tight when i installed it.
Thanks for your time and questions.
Cheers.

I did replace the fuel filter when I replaced the fuel pump. The spark plugs and wires have about 10000 miles on them. Also have replaced the spark module about 3000 miles ago.
Not sure about hard acceleration up hills not a lot of that here in FL.
I have connected my OBD tester but have not had any pending codes show up .
One thing I have not done a good job on is cleaning my MAF sensor and I also have a K&N filter that requires oil spray for maintenance which can contaminate the MAF sensor don't think this is my problem with stalling but i will add that to the list to do . I did not realize I need to clean the MAF sensor every time I change my oil about every 5000 miles.
Thanks for your time, and your questions.

how about the serpentine belt condition? Glazed? Belt tensioner not keeping enough tension? It could be slipping. Also, I have heard of some aftermarket fuel pumps failing(or starting to fail) after about a year.

one more thing to think about. May be time for a good fuel injector cleaning service. You may have two separate issues as well. Other than these maintenance items(which may or my not be the cure but good to do anyway) you may need to go to someone with a high end scan tool that can pin point the exact cause so you're not throwing any parts at it. It's just that a hesitation can be so many different things. ..may be a failing PS pump? transmission issue? Obviously, a good scanner and a someone who can use it properly is the best way to go. Hopefully something simple will be the fix(s). Just may have to shell out the money for a proper diagnosis.

..check out those plugs and wires. spray some water on the wires and look and listen for a spark jumping out. That was my issue when I was getting a hesitation. I had a bad brand new plug. The spark was jumping out of the boot intermittently misfiring under load. No CEL. Check the the wires are fully seated on the coil. Those can easily be off a little.

I'm guessing a shorted ignition switch wire in the steering column.

Thank you all for your time and your responses.
My serpentine belt does show some Glazing I will go ahead and replace that and check the tension pulley . I will take a closer look at the wires, to tell you the truth i suspect the after market fuel pump may be intermittent but after replacing it my self the first time ,I am not looking forward to replacing it again . But before I do that I will take it and get the scan run on it first.
Thanks.

S/t wants to stall turning left.

I have not cleaned my MAF sensor on the air intake Sense 2004 , very bad!! . I cleaned it 1 month ago and have not had the stalling problem making a left turn or any other stalling problems . I waited this long to post just to be sure the problem was fixed. I would like to Thank everyone that responded to my post.
Cheers.
