Eventually I will be lifting my X. I am torn between doing a solid axle conversion then lifting it, or just putting the 4 inch super lift in. I would love to do full width axles and make this thing huge...but I dont want to end up spending way more money than nescesary. Any advice?

not really but I know people. I wouldnt be swapping the axles out myself

Before you do the SAC, you need to find out what you want to do with you explorer. If you are going to be doing alot of trails with small obstacles then stay with the IFS and get a bracket lift. The lift will not give you more suspension travel, but it will allow you to run bigger tires, which will give you more clearance.

If you are going to be doing alot of rock crawling and trails with fairly large obstacles, then go for the SAC.

Hope this helps.

Just to make it easier, in case you need to search or whatever : we commonly refer to it as "SAS", or "solid axle swap".

lol.. I was going to put SAS, but I wasn't sure so I just followed suit..
