Safest way to remove carbon buildup

Just the lower, never thought about the upper.

The lower were pretty tight btw.

Not sure where the upper bolts would be?

I checked the upper intake bolts today, they were nice and tight.

I have a few other things to check out with the truck, when Im done im gonna have the timeing checked out. Im not sure what else would cause this ping?

One thing I did to our '92 is switch to cooler plugs (280k+ miles on the motor).

Autolite are the only ones that I could easily find cooler plugs for.

It seemed to have gotten rid of the last bit of pinging I had (I had it once in a while when merging onto the freeway when in OD).

also, do a compression check, if you have a leaking head gasket it can cause some pinging.
