collecting needed parts, have complete high pinion dana 44 from 78 fullsize bronco along with radius arms and brackets. Will be partial daily so I can't do the heim joint steering setup, any ideas? Using new coil buckets from BGY and 3.5 " progressive rate springs from James Duff. Can I just fab up new "C' wedges on the axle aligning the radius arms with the width of Ranger frame and keep the axle full width? Planning on running dual shock on either side of coil and would like incorporate front shock tower with track bar mount, anyone done this before? And to top all off, I'm doing this with *******ized 2x4 standard cab. Getting tired of random 4.0L gremlins (250K) miles so the 5.0L, c-4, 1354 will be going in also (ebay) Hadn't seen any of these ideas on any threads, thanks

Well I can give you a reason against the shock tower trac bar mount. Well 2 reasons. The first is strength. You must make the trac bar mount crazy strong. REALLY strong. Its your life line. if it breaks you dont steer. And its under a major load.

Next is bump steer. The way to avoid bump steer is to keep the trac bar in the same angle as the drag link. I doubt you could do this in your idea.

You can use 78 stock ra's and extend them to mount to the frame without having to mount the ra mounts outboard of the frame. That way you dont' have to fab up any c-mounts. It's what i'm going to be doing and know of a few other people who have done it. I'm going to extend my 8-12" so I can pusgh the axle up about 4 inches.

I dont' think there's any real good reason to run dual shocks unless your going to be doing alot of highspeed offroading. Just get some f250 shock mounts and bolt them on.

Why can't you run i heim'd steering on a dd? Ahhjaws here has and I know others who have.

As far as your upper bucket, you could build an integrated spring/track bar mount but remember your going to have to space the springs out about 3" on each side to line up with the 78's lower buckets. I'm going to use a james duff trac bar mount i think with alittle added beef...i think it will be adjustable than some integrated thing....but that's just my opinion.

to add to what the rookie said your trac bar and drag link should be as close to the same length as well in order to eliminate jacking ;)

code

Can anybody help guide a future SAS'er with a link or an idea of where to get the best adjustable trac bar from?

I got mine from James Duff.
When I got my 78 f-150 for my SAS it came with dual shocks and the front shock mount was also part of the trac bar mount, if you look in my d44/9" swap thread I think I have pictures of it in there.
Also the coil buckets from the same truck have the springs sitting about 1 1/2" away from the frame instead of up next to it like the EB type.
