what tires do you want to run? Dana 30 (jeep axel) is a lot cheaper but if you want to run anything bigger than 33s it's not going to hold up.

You already have a Dana 35 in the front.

Also, JoshC runs a Dana 30 with 35s and as far as I know, it holds up pretty well.

He doesn't have a solid axle 35 in front though. You can probably go 35s with a D30, even more most likely, but in my personal opinion I think 33s is the largest tire to be run reliably on a D30 it depends on other factors too, like the type of terrain you'll encounter and your driving style other people will agree and disagree though, this is just one opinion.

O, Ok

I agree that 33s are the biggest tire for the Dana 30, and still keep it reliable. If I was paying the all the $$ for the SAS, I'd go straight to a Dana 44.

i know this may sound like a smartass answer but if you have to ask about a price for a solid axle swap you havent done enough research to even consider a SAS.

Priec will be the same for fabrication work on the two differetn axle setups though. the only difference will be the cost of the axle and they are both similarly priced everywhere i have looked.

I have researched SAS's for HOURS. I haven't been able to find any price for this. I saw a cost for parts/axles, but never for fab b/c most people do it themselves.

it all depends on if you find the deals...RESEARCH, RESEARCH, RESEARCH is the key. i put in tons of hours figuring out how i was going to do it, and what i was going to use. i was lookin for a dana 44 at the time i found my dana 30. i paid $50 for the axle, and saved tons of money installing the gears myself. Now when i do find me a dana 44 it's just going to a bolt on matter now. I will run leafs with the 44, and preferably a 9" rearend. You either gotta know someone to get the deals or know where to look. i wouldn't just jump on something unless the price is right! Have fun with it.

there isnt a set price... that is why you cant find a price. Most fab shops will charge between 80 and 100$ per hour for labor and id figure at least 24hours of labor if not more. then figure in cost of steel. prolly about a sheet of 1/4" and a shet of 3/8" and some 2x4 box .012 wall. id say from $4,000-10,000 depending on components used.

Think i read that Jefe did his himself and woud up near $6k its a big undertaking so plan carefully.

I'm a streeter and know a decent starting place...

Suspention...
-leafs
-coils
-coil overs
-various links

Wheels...
-go to diff pattern for 44 and 60
-may need diff backspacing

Setup....
-know how to weld?
-have parts truck?
-have steering componets?
-Gears you going to want to upgrade out of any factory axle

Truck....
-how long can you be without it
-do you trust the work you would do yourself?
-do you have time?

Others with experiance can add but thats the basics
