I see that people are using the stock Explorer drag link but what tie rod are they using. I tried to connect my stock Explorer drag link to the stock '79 Bronco tie rod, but it was too long by about 3 inches. I know they say size doesn't count, but in this case it does. :)

Thanks.

Rob

Not everything is a bolt-on -- you gotta innovate

That was when i was setting up my steering on my 91 with a 78 full size axle.
I used the main steering bar from the 78 and used one of the explorer bars for the other. If it doesnt fit you will have to make one. I just got lucky.

Thanks. I noticed my tie rod is different. It has a connecting point for the hydralic assist ram so maybe that offset the drag link hole.

I'm using heims, and DOM for mine...pretty simple, stronger than stock sploder or 78/79 parts, and i can get all my geometry correct the first time :)

Thanks. If I can't find what I need at the local bone yard, this may be my alternative.

I was going to re-use my stock stuff as well. After talking it over with a few in my club i don't think it'll really be worth it to try to salvage it. I should be able to do mine for around 100 bucks so that ain't all that bad, and i'll be flipping the tie rod which will give me a few more inches of clearance.

I'll be using 1.5x.250 DOM for the links :)

I will be doing this also. Just not for now. It runs fine but i have bent it up a little.
