My rack and pinion was going bad since the steering keep locking up..
My brother and I replaced the rack and pinion with a new one from autozone.. and then bled the steering and all that.. it came out a better than before but still is not normal as it is hard to steer like 1/4 from full circle going either left or right.. after turning the steering past 1/4 it would be pretty smooth.. and then when i let go the steering as I turn, it would turn back until that 1/4 part and then I would have to tug it back to center..
My brother and I figured that it is the power steering pump.. so while we were at it, I decided to buy a new power steering pump and a brand new steering pressure hose.. my brother installed it all back today since I am gone on a vacation and he is saying it is the same.. he is not sure what is wrong..
Apparently he is saying that there is some whine in it..
Any ideas, guys? We are VERY baffled with the result since we literally replaced every steering components so how can it not operate properly?
I am trying to finish it up as soon as possible because I am going to take it to college.. I am going to send it into a shop for a headgasket repair since it is seeping out coolant fluid because the block and header is rusted up so there is holes between those 2 parts.. definitely going to be a pretty high bill, but it is going to be worth it in the end since I would like to use this explorer for like 4 more years and I do not want to take my new explorer to college
Anyway, hope you guys got an idea about what is wrong. Any input would be very much appreciated..
Thanks in advance
