i just read the Haynes manual and it looks pretty easy.
unsrew the 2 screws, take a wide flat screw driver and take off the door trim, then disconnect and wires attached, then peal back water splash guard, then unscrew the screws holding the speaker on the door and attach the new speakers and put it back together.

is that basically it?

saving my butt $60 and time!

if i missed a step please tell me. going to install it today or soon!

any special tools i need ot wires?

Nah, basically you pull off the panel and swap the speakers. Take it a bit slow and take care of the parts as you pull them off, and there ya go! I suggest you get a large box and put it under the door. This way you can let the interior door panel hang a bit on the wires and rest on the box. You don't want to have to undo all the door lock and window harnesses.

Maybe I did something wrong but the factory speaker wires would not plug into my infinity speakers. I had to cut the end of the connectors off and crimp a different type of connector to fit the infinity speakers. No big deal really, but just letting you know.

On mine, I had to get ford connectors from the place I bought the speakers. Its a connection that gos on the terminals of the speaker so you can hook up the aftermarket speakers to the ford connection. They were like $6 for a pair I think.

I just did all new speakers and a Head unit in my '97 and it was really easy. I got my stuff from crutchfield so they sent me installation master sheets and all the harnesses for free which was a big help.

I just cut the Ford connectors from the ends and put on female spade terminals. No biggie.

One of the reasons that I always use Crutchfield is the little things like adaptors that they include.

Autozone sells them Ford connectors:D

Thats what I did, just pressed them on and connected them to my Infinity speakers.

well the speakers are in. got help from Billy and he used his tools and there in a wired up. they sound GREAT. very pleased!

i have a full Pioneer system. HU, and 4 speakers.

Thanks to Billy for helping be with this project!

Its really that easy it took me n some people about 15 minutes to do it depending on what speakers you have you might have to do some different wiring to go into you speakers but its easy

naw not 15 mins! it took us like 2 hrs with talking and all. i could see an hour but for 15 mins, you'd have to have 4 ppl and going very fast and knowing what there doing with the right tools

Yeah, if you had bought the speakers from Crutchfield, they would have included wire harneses. Maybe next time.

if you had bought the speakers from Crutchfield...

you would have lost that $60 you saved on installation! actually they arent that expensive, but there are cheaper places.

i don't understand.

i didn't lose the $60. i did it my self

Dave, when you buy speakers from Crutchfield, they "save" you money by providing wiring diagrams and harnesses but they will charge you more for the same set of speakers than some other places such as Best Buy or Circuit City.

Heh...he paid $60 for installation but he got his money back because he chose me to install them for him. Instead of $60, he bought me lunch. Thanks Dave!! ;)

BTW, the speakers sound GREAT!!! I wanna swap mine too but they sound great as it is so I'm not gonna change them.
