Stealth Box Construction and Installation - PICS!

So how long are we talking about waiting to hear about this? I was thinking about building my own, but if the prices are good enough, I may consider buying one. And I can get that Sport sized?

Scratch answering in this thread, I found the other one and asked in that.

V8-i recently blew my image dynamics that i had in there so i pulled the box out and now i have a memphis 10 in there. the memphis is deeper so i put it on the outside like yours...how did you work that with the interior panel? did you trim that slotted piece off of it? ive just got the box in the cargo area now trying to figure out how i can put it back where i want it...also im going to polyfill it now that ive got it all apart again. how much should i use? ive never done it before...

Is it possible for me to get the plans for this box?

Ryan

i used to work in car audio doing install and i have found that before you put in poly fill go to walmart and in the auto department and pick up a can of sound dampner and undercoating it is in a red can with a black top made by 3M and spray the inside of the box with it before putting poly fill in it deadens the box and also helps seal the box the shop i did install at used it with every box build we did and with excellant results

i also vouch for using the 3m undercoating to coat the inside of the box. I do this as well.

thanks for the vouch expo5.0

you may consider relocating your bottle jack (and rear wiper fluid reservoir for pre-98) to possibly fit a 2nd on the driver's side...i don't see 2 fitting on one side.

Aaron, I just calculated dimensions to make a custom dual-15 ported 2-piece system. Once you're outta Tufts for the summer, we oughtta get together and I'll show you. Besides materials, I'd just need a 2nd JL 15W3D4, and I'll cram 550 watts thru each :D

someone should build a box that replaces that entire plastic piece with a fiberglass piece. you could get a ton mor airspace that way...

"plastic piece" as in the pocket or the whole panel? fiberglass would be dope, but how many subs are designed for the larger space but will still fit depthwise? I know the JL is fiberglass, but not as big.

nah, i meant the whole piece.

however, it could be done so that it was fiberglass so that it stuck out a few inches to fit a larger woofer.'

heck- if i were doing this for myself i would cut the space larger and make a fiberglass box that had a couple cubic feet. i think that could be done without making it stick out any further than the wheel well hump.

EBInterceptor; How much would you charge to build me one, if it's an option?

I was working on a box like that for myself, its just I never took the time and it didn't turn out that well. You're work has inspired me to start again. I also know what you mean by having to take subs in and out, I had a 3ft by 2ft by 1ft box in the back of mine, with 2 15" Rockfords. It sounded good, but I had to take it in and out a lot, and it was heavy. Besides, the bass made the back lock not work so well..

back from the dead

any chance you could share the CAD designs?

I am definitely going to attempt this project in the next couple weeks. I have a large dual enclosure box that takes up way too much room in my cargo space. I have not had to take it out to fit stuff in, but it is close. I have to maneuver the hell out of that box to get stuff in sometimes. This stealth box looks fun to design and install, and will definitely open up my cargo space.

V8 boatbuilder you can get good sound deadening using Elemental Designs e80 sound deadening. Its $2.00 a sq. ft & works as good as the same thickness Dynamat. I have both in my Ranger but the Dynamat for my doors cost almost much as the e80 did for the rest of my cab. You can buy any amount you want instead of set sizes the other companies offer. I have about 100 sq ft in my truck but I did everything except my cab roof. I might do it later. You can get it at Elementaldesigns.com
