Post number 6 has been selected as best answered.

Also needing to know the screw size, one of mine fell out and I had read dont have both out at same time or a spring comes out and an easy fix gets hard. Thanks for any help

This just happened to my Trac as well.
Thanks for the replies to this thread.
Being 6'1" Farm boy didn't make it an easy in or out-was JUST able to get there w/o removing seat.
:chug:

so is this bolt a 30mm? mine fell out, and then fell down the hole in the steering column by the universal joint. now its gone to narnia. i need a new one. 30 mm with a T30 head? i shouldve measured it before trying to reinstall. its the one pictured in the beginning of thread. gold Torx bolt.

I can't speak to thread size
But pretty sure the head size is 27mm

thanks. i fixed it for now. FYI if anyone is in this situation...and like me you've lost the bolt...i just stuck a smaller bolt in the hole, wrapped in enough tape to add friction, and then covered the screwhead with steelstick / plumbers putty...then kneading it onto the plate as well. it'll work for now. also tighten the other remaining bolt, and now it feels like new, goes into PARK fine, and now the indicator aligns up with the actual gears. i'm about to attempt to flee crazy San Francisco after 13 yrs. to Dallas TX pulling a 4 X8 trailer... it woul've been impossible without PARK and the Parking Brake. Feel much better about the Trek, now! thanks for all the help with this thread. Shops wanted $575 to fix it here in S.F., and i'm a broke **** due to San Fran closing all small businesses with 2.5 yrs. of Covid lockdowns and now the fully sanctioned crime... i'm the last one left on my block to close down...Fleeing to greener pastures! Wish me luck! this forum has helped me make this move even a possibility. Thank You All who contributed to this thread over the years! Wish me luck!

I can't remember the last time the govt has truly had our best interest in mind 😆 seems like alot of the government things are great idea poor execution. Although the alleged rollback of CARB would be nice.
Dunno, politics is hard. Theres no one right answer...

This website is such a valuable resource. One of the bolts on my '01 fell out today. Took me longer to figure out how to get to it than the actual repair. I removed the lower dash panel to ease the access and definitely recommend putting it in neutral as mentioned. Taped the bolt to the torx socket and was able to easily get the bolt started and hand tighten.
