Could someone tell me why the 4.0 engine has that long screw up through the oil pan and beside the rear of the crank shaft?

Nobody knows why that long screw is in the back part of the oil pan??

I see the long bolt that only gets torqued to 35 ft-lbs in my manuals, but I have no clue what its for just looking at the pic. Also, its dark here so I cant go out and look at it right now. I will see what further info can be found on this item.

...And why is this a 911 problem exactly?

its a crankshaft stabilization member.......

or a cross directional ignition field stabilizer......

could also be a fuel rail installation locator, based on the axis of X and Y at a position that is diometrically opposed to the left rear reverse light bulb!

:D :D :D :D

sorry, couldnt resist, honestly dont know!

everyone knows that it holds the Flux Capacitor in place

I thought it qualified because hopefully it goes back in the vehicle either late this afternoon or tomorrow. I am waiting for the pan gasket and it should be in today. While I was getting the pan cleaned up I got to wondering just why Ford decided to put that screw that doesn't appear usefull for anything in there. Now I know so you can take it off your 911 board!

to plug up a hole why else :D
