Seafoam in oil?

I was going to run seafoam in the oil of my moms '93 X for the day and change the oil. I decided against it becasue of the mileage on the motor, 227k miles. I was told and was also afraid it might loosen some stuff that could have a negative effect on the motor.

It has the lifter/rocker tapping you can hear while it idles. Would this help it? I don't want to run it and have it ruin her engine.

What do you guy's think? I run it through the brake booster line every oil change....

I would not do a full can in the oil only 1/3 can. I don't think it would hurt for one day.

SeaFoam has certain directions for use... it's 1/3rd can in the gas tank, 1/3rd in the brake booster, and 1/3rd in the oil. However, if you put it in the oil, you're supposed to go for a "spirited" drive for about 20 minutes, and then perform an oil change. Expect to see a lot of black smoke from all the carbon getting burned out of the engine. I don't remember why you need the oil change afterwards, but you do have to do it.

I mentioned this in another thread on the subject a while back: Be careful of using the SeaFoam. If you've got a high-milage engine, it will clean out the engine, which is great. However, if your headgaskets are burned or cracked, the only thing keeping them from leaking may be the carbon deposits. Get rid of them and you could blow a headgasket. So...

Note: Using SeaFoam may cause you to blow a headgasket.

just one question...i'm thinking about doing this to my high mileage ex, and wondering that if you put the seafoam in with a bottle of stop leak in the oil, would it cancel out any problems that the seafoam might cause?

I think it would be counterproductive. Stop leak is used to plug minor holes where oil may leak. Seafoam is going to clean deposits that may be keeping your oil from leaking.
