SeaFoam "No Smoke"

Thank you for taking the time to read this message.

I recently purchased a can of seafoam. I snooped around the neighborhood looking for a secluded place to let the seafoam "smoke show" shake up the neighborhood.

I have seen videos of seafoams smoke show which looked like a smoke screen for the U.S. Navy.
I let the engine ingest 2/3rds of a can to the combustion chamber through the vacuum line off the power break booster. I put the rest in the gas tank and let it sit for 10 minutes and started it up.
I did not get a smoke show at all, so...... I thought I must have done something wrong and bought another can..... same thing .... no smoke at all.
Could you tell me am I doing something wrong or has seafoam done something to illuminate the smoke show?

The only thing I can come up with is that you used the wrong vacuum line. It sounds like you know what you are talking about though, so I dunno Can you post a picture to show us exactly which line you used?

I get hardly any smoke via the brake booster on the 5.0. You will smoke out two neighbourhoods if you go via the PCV. Find the most excellent thread in the archives. It's harder to do, but worth it. Results are night and day better over the booster method.

I'm actually choked, because since I for a UI spacer installed, it's almost impossible to get at my PCV now. . I've been stuck with the BB method and now I don't even bother.

A long time ago when I had a shop do their "3 step injection cleaning" they used intake cleaner through the booster....Lazy or just didn't know...?

10 Minutes usually didn't give any smoke in mine...

I usually let mine sit for about an hour or so and the entire court turns into a fogged area... maybe you just didn't let it sit long enough? Idk...

I've let mine "soak" for a long time in my 5.0. You just don't get much coverage with BB, at least on the V8. I've heard the process described as "pissing in the wind". Not so with the PCV approach.

Did you have the engine warmed up first?

If its done correctly it wont smoke much at all. The big smoke shows are from people incorrectly using the product. Here are some instructions from a Ford service bulletin for carbon build up. Just use SeaFoam instead of the PM-3.

Service Procedure for Installers
1. Use Motorcraft carburetor Tune-up cleaner PM-3.
2. Carbon removal:
a. Disconnect canister purge linefrom throttle body.
b. Attach a vacuum line to the canister purge port.
c. At hot engine idle, allow the engine to ingest 1/2 to 2/3 of a can of Motorcraft Carburetor Tune-up Cleaner. Use caution not to ingest too quickly due to potential hydro-lock issues.
d. Shut engine off and allow it to soak for one hour.
e. Start engine, allow engine to ingest the remainder of the Motorcraft Carburetor Tune-up Cleaner.
f. Remove vacuum line and re-install canister purge line.
g. Road test vehicle at 3,500 rpm for 2-3 miles.
h. Repeat above procedure two times for a total of three times.
i. Change oil and filter.
