Both are designed to clean intakes right? Is one clinically proven or ADA approved over the other one or something? There seems to be a great deal of controversy surrounding Sea Foam and if Amsoil does the same stuff just as well, should I go with that?

Any suggestions on one over the other?

I used them both. The AMSOIL is a spray foam. The Seafoam is not a foam but a liquid. The Seafoam worked better for me than the AMSOIL PowerFoam did. I think it's not so much the stuff (they are quite similar) as it is the delivery method. With the AMSOIL PowerFoam you have to spray it. I don't think I did a good job of spraying it in there. The Seafoam, on the other hand, is a liquid and it gets sucked in thru a vac tube. I think it dispersed better because of this. Anyway, the Seafoam worked better for me. I still use my AMSOIL PowerFoam as a degreaser. It works great for that.

My advice would be don't use either unless you have carbon problems.

Well, I am about to turn 108k on my 95 Ex Sport. I just had my injectors cleaned and blew a crapload of carbon and other junk through the exhaust after that, so I'm assuming my entire intake may have deposits.

Is your truck pinging? If it's not, I wouldn't even mess with PowerFoam or Seafoam.

Look at the other threads here about Seafoam...

I'm not sure exactly how to diagnose if my engine is pinging or not. If it actually makes a "ping" sound occasionally, then no...it's not doing that. However when idling in park and drive (say at a stop light) I notice the occasional jerk with the engine where it shakes my car slightly enough for me to notice.

taylormanson, sounds like you just have a low idle. You would know if you had a pinging. Mine pings and it sounds like I have a diesel engine. Sea Foam to the rescue... hopefully.
