I have a 2008 Explorer and the driver's side seat belt is driving me nuts. When I exit the vehicle, the belt does not retract much at all and I have to physically retract the belt or I will end up slamming the door on it. Anybody have a way to make the retraction a little better?

My 1996 Explorer does the same thing. I have taken it apart and have found it is just a weak spring. I don't know of a fix other than putting a new part on it.

I had the same problem with my '06, and I had the dealer replace the drivers seatbelt assembly while it was still under warranty. Works much better now.

When the seat belt is tough to retract its usually because there is some grime built up where the belt feeds through the upper feed, get some low grit sand paper and run it through the feed by your shoulder back and forth. it works wonders.

BOTH of our fronts are doing this slow retraction as well... i have an extended warranty so just may wait to take in for several things if more issues come up for the $100 deductable... (though with it being a safety item... could be covered on it's own..)
