Can I install electric seats in a 1995 explorer 4x4 xlt that did not come stock with them. Is there a harness plug under the dash somewhere for this purpose.

I cannot be certain, but I bet if you look under the seat, or floor mat, you will find the wiring harness. Most of the time the same harness is used no matter how the truck is equipped. I may be wrong about this, if I am, somebody please clarify.

On my 98 Sport, it came with basic seats that were broken. I found some really awesome power seats with lumbar out of a 99 model in the JY. Anyways, I could not find a harness or wiring under the carpet or in the cab when I pulled the seats and carpet out to do the install.

What I did do is run a new power wire from the fuse box, under the carpet to the seats. I grounded the "ground" wire on the Power Seats to the body. It is really easy and quick on the update and install!!!

Thanks to Deweyville65 and Midwest Dually for your input.

You bet! It can be done, and fairly easily too! Good luck!

I swapped some power seats into my '00 XLS and I had to run new wires. I just tapped into a black wire with a white stripe that I found in the harness. That's how the donor '97 was wired.

I went the other way. Just converted to manual seat adjuster on the driver side.
