Is it possible to put the front seats from a 3rd gen 4 door into a 2nd gen? I have searched and found nothing so far.

who in the hell would want to? the 02-05 seats are fugly and cheap cheap cheap! and did i mention FUGLY? id rather kill myself than put those seats in my 99! You cant find anything about it anywhere because no one in their right mind would do it. I know 01-03 Sport seats will fit in any 95-01 explorer but thats it.

Yeah I wasn't really going for the look aspect, I like how they are a little stiffer. It might just be that they were just newer and my seats are worn out, cause mine are stupid soft. I'm actually, more or less, trying to find a seat cushion that is stiffer/not worn to hell.

well, my best advice is to go to a you pull it junkyard and pull a set of seats out of a 95-01 explorer. most you pull it junkyards only charge 10 to 20 bucks for a seat. the 99-01 seats are different from the 95-98's just to let you know. i dont remember if theres a comfort difference, i think they mainly just look different.

i also believe that 1st gen seats will fit in 2nd gens, usually those are more firm than 2nd gen seats.

Yeah I will look around. I will probably end up just buying the cushion from eBay and swapping it out. I was just curious what my options may have been. One day I will have a roll cage installed then I will be swapping in better seats. just have to decide if I want the cage internal or go exo-cage. For now though I am aiming for comfort as the springs are starting to work their way through the pad in a couple spots.

The mounts to the floor are very different. The track will separate from the '91-'01 seats but the '02+ is integrated into the seat itself. Look around for a set of limited seats or '01+ Sport or Sport Trac seats with headrests. They're the best they will easily bolt in.

You can go custom though if you have some ingenuity.

I had this problem too so i took the foam out of a passenger side and put it in my driver seat. The passenger side is almost always in better shape and its not very hard to do.
