OK....I bought my Sport Trac Limited just over a year ago. The keypad on my truck was added, but was added by Ford (factory). It is a pad that is mounted on the door just under the door handle (like the 1st generation). When I bought the truck I did not have the security code (card), but I found the owners manual under the seat of the truck and I now have the security card/code. I followed the procedure in the owners manual to reset back to factory, but it is not working. In fact I am not able to get any of the functions to work.....like holding down the last two buttons to lock the doors. If I depress the buttons they will light up, but I am not able to get this thing to work.

Any advice would be apprecitated.....

Is it the hardwired keypad or the Ford accessory keypad?

Photo if it?

It is the Ford accessory keypad (stick on...not hardwired). A guy (from another forum) sent me a set of program instructions and I followed them to the letter last night. I put the truck in program mode and was able to get the outside keypad to work as far as using the last two pads to auto lock the doors (it would not do that before). I attempted the Ford code taken off the card and nothing. I don't see how I could be possibly doing anything wrong. This truck is a certified used vehicle from Ford....maybe they did not give me the correct security code card. When I had my 2005 Sport Trac I did not have the code, but was able to get it by removing the upper dash cover and see the code. Is there any place on the second generation trucks for me to verify the code without paying $80 to hook it up to the computer?

Here are the Ford accessory (stick-on) keypad instructions. Is this what you received and followed?
linky

Remote entry codes on 2007-up (and all other Ford OBD/CAN system vehicles) is on the SJB (smart junction box). On your 2007 Trac it is behind the left kick panel. Whether is is visible without removing the parking brake assembly and kick panel is something I cannot say. Not that familiar with the Gen 2's.

Diagnostics can be found HERE

Though, from that:
If the master code or owner selectable code is
lost or forgotten, the GFA RF keypad must
replaced. These codes are not stored in any
vehicle module (with the exception of 2004
F-Super Duty vehicles produced prior to
12/3/2003).

But for less than the $80 hookup (that won't help you) you can get the complete new unit on eBay

Thanks Steve.....I see what you are saying. Those are the same instructions that I followed. I was able to reach program mode and now the keypad does somewhat function. Looks like if the code I have doesn't work.....I will have to replace the unit. I don't think it is that important to me. I am pleased I can lock the doors with the keypad and it would be nice to have it working, but I think I can live without it. I have functioned without it for a year, so I am going to move on. I thought I would be able to recover the code like I did with the factory unit on my '05.

Do you not have the fobs to lock/unlock your Trac?

If no, PM me your VIN. A Limited should have keyless.

Oh yea....I have two fobs. I just hate for something to be on the truck and not work properly. The thing is.....I think there is a pretty good chance I would damage the paint attempting to removed the stick on key pad; I don't want that. I would have rather it have nothing than a half working something. I just have to get it out of my mind and move my focus to something else...my wife says I am border line OCD. Thanks again for the information Steve.....

LOL, I have the keypad on mine and don't think I've ever used it.

Start applying a small amount of the most concentrated citrus cleaner you can find to the upper edge of the keypad where it contacts the door. It'll loosen the adhesive and not damage the paint. I have some Zep Big Orange that I use for stuff like this. Goo Gone may work.
