You know how Subwoofers can seize up? Can that happen to component speakers as well??

Here's my problem, I have a Clarion head unit going to my 4 speakers. The fronts are powered by an amp rated at 320watts. The back speakers are powered by the radio.
I got in my car today and noticed my front left speaker wasnt working. While driving I hit a bump and it started to work again. I assumed it was a loose connection.
I took the door panels off and everything was tight. Head unit wires were tight as well. While driving again, I noticed the speaker went dead again. I turned my radio all the way up, and the speaker just kicked on and worked normally...almost like it was stuck or something and needed a kick to get going.
When sound is coming through the problem speaker, it doesn't sound defective or distorted at all. Sounds perfectly fine. But it just seems to be "stuck" sometimes.
No other speaker in my car is having this problem.

The speakers in question are Eclipse 6x8 3 way speakers (SE8385) being powered by a JL AMP rated at 320 watts. The amp isnt bridged, Im just using the 2 channels on it.

Any idea what could be wrong?

Is the rating you're giving for your amp 320w RMS or max?

Max ratings mean nothing.

Seems like you have a loose connection somwhere.

Same thing happens to the driver door on my 97, it's the stock speaker and I looked for loose wires, found nothing, so to bring it back on, I just turn up the volume until it works...

Check and make sure one of the speaker terminals is not rubbing against metal.

On my Keenwood if this happnes it goes into protect mode. Whether Clarion's do the same thing I don't know.

could be a loose tinsel lead
