hi folks can anyone help? after embarrisingly getting bogged down without my front propshaft my ex only gets drive by selecting second then going into drive. first does not work either,if i slow down to a crawl then it loses drive again until i put it back into second.this was caused by my impatience when i was rocking the ex back and fore when i was stuck,so im hoping its something straightforward.any advice would be appreciated, thanks

sounds like trouble on the way m8 ..

I suspect your forward clutch,s have worn in the transmission...
with both trans failures Ive had with no drive ,had worn clutch,s ...im assuming reverse is ok...

yes mate reverse is fine,it drives no probs, just that second has to be selected before it goes into drive.

...have u checked the atf level while its running ..?
good luck dude ..

i,ll check that in the morning,as the reason the prop was off was that i had changed the transfer box three days earlier for the second time, due to getting a duff second hand one. theres been plenty of fluid going through that box with that transfer box getting changed twice.what makes me smile though is how tough an explorer is,it just keeps going.its been hit by two cars without anything more than a scuff, went for miles with a dodgy water pump, and done 600 miles with the gearbox like this.the best vehicle i have ever bought definitely! the best four years motoring i have had with any car!:)
