Hi everyone,

I'm William from France. I have a 97 Eddy Bauer V8. The anti theft doesn't work correctly. No red led on when i close the door whith the remote key. And after a few hours without using the vehicle the anti theft rings whether the doors are closed or not. I have to debranche the battery so that it no longer sounds. How to definitively disconnect the anti theft. thank you very much for help.

You most likely have a failing door switch. It sees a door “open” when it messes up, and triggers the alarm.

I doubt anyone here will help you “disable” the alarm.

Your truck is probably also different because it’s a world market truck. in 97 in the states there was no PATS, so it’s possible your anti theft is different.

Ditto. The factory anti theft system uses a "THEFT" light in the dash cluster to indicate faults, including the common bad key(PATS) issues.

It is likely you have a bad door or hatch latch sensor, or the striker bushings have worn out, or are gone. Look at the dash for the "DOOR" light to tell you if the doors are all closed. Most alarm systems use that circuit to trigger the alarm. That light should be out whenever you are inside and driving.

Check all six of the striker bushings of the doors and hatch. If any or cracked etc, replace them. Note that only the Ford and Dorman bushings will work properly.

If you turn on the ignition and get out with the doors shut, you can play with the door handles to see if it makes the dash light"DOOR" come on at all. That dash light is to tell you there's an issue sensed by the latch sensors.

How old is your battery? When my battery was starting to fail, my factory alarm would randomly go off. Replaced battery, never happened again.

That's a good thought too, some newer cars are full of monitoring features and things which are very sensitive to the voltage supplied.
