Any maybe the tooth fairy left those coins under your pillow when you were a kid. :p

Seriously, that is a LONG stretch of the imagination there. Every other vavle on that head would be off also, and all of them would be smacking their pistons.

OK the new spark plug still won't thread into the head. As for it not starting, I was given the wrong info from the dealership as to the cylinder locations by number. He had the banks swapped. After straightening out THAT mess, I'm back where I was before. The motor WILL start, but now I need to get the spark plug to thread.

does it kinda thread in or not start at all. I would suggest getting a plug thread cleaner ie rethreader its cheap if the threads aren't totally fubared

this is what you need

14 AND 18MM SPARK PLUG OPENING THREAD CHASER
KD 730 $4.95

Clean and restore spark plug threads. Use with a 13/16" socket. Rubber ring eliminates slipping. Tool services most cars.

ha! thanks, bud.

Kurt, what's happening is the head's plug threads are fubared enough that the plug will drop into its seat, but not thread. The motor now turns over even with the plug missing, due to corrected coil pack wiring. Now it's as loud as it was a week ago, with the noise coming out the spark plug hole. But in any case, the threads in the cylinder head are in fact messed up. I'm trying to find out whether something simple like this would work, or if I have to go to an engine machine shop. Where did you find that tool?

Well in that case a heli coil is your next step. I have seen them at NAPA. the rethreader that is. I persoanlly won't install a heli coil myself cause its a one shot deal. I learned my lesson already.

But then again I was installing something other than a heli coil and screwed it up then had a mechanic fix my work he installed a heli coil. Someone else that has installed a heli coil may give better advice

So far i'm realizing i need to retap for a helicoil insert? Is that right? Or have a shop do it?

Well that depends on how comfortable you are with the process. I think you have to drill out hole and insert or screw in the helicoil.

Sorry Issac, I've been kinda away for a while. What's the status of this repaire?
