i have a 95 2 door sport 4x4 with 155k on it. i've never had any major problems out of it and i must admit that i have not been good about doing regular maintenence. i have however, replaced the timing belt, water pump, thermostat and cv axles. i want to have a major service done on my truck, but i'm not sure what all i should have done. the tranny fluid has never been flushed and i've never had any problems with the tranny. one mechanic told me that at this point, i could possibly cause damage by flushing it now and i should just leave it and let it run it's course. that sounds curious to me, so that's why i want some more opinions. i've read that a lot of you guys have had the dif fluid replaced, should i do that as well? what else should i have done now? any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

tranny flush is bad?..............not a chance........I would be curious also

If all is well, I would recommend a good tune up and tranny flush.

I know that sounds simple, but if you don't show any signs of anything wrong, that is what you should do IMHO.

Good Luck and Welcome To The Board!

corrections to post

My friend typed this post for me and got a couple of things wrong. I have a 96 Sport 4WD. I've never had the timing belt replaced (it has a timing chain). I am getting a tune up and tranny flush......but should I get the belt and hoses replaced also?!? Should I just leave the diff fluid alone? Thanks for info already given and any future info I receive!

get all the belts and hoses changed...that's relatively cheap and an all around good idea. the reason the mechanic told you not to flush the tranny now, being that you haven't had it done before and it has some age to it, is because flushing the tranny could remove deposits that have settled into little areas that will/could leak. by flushing the tranny now you will more than likely remove most of the deposits and thus predisposing it to leak. and if it starts to leak then you gotta worry more about tranny fluid level and this is eventually shorten life of tranny.
