Hello all. A couple days ago I had the SES light come on. This is on an 02 4 door SOHC. I went to Advance Auto and got the codes read. Came back as PO402 - Excessive EGR flow. Now after doing some searching on here seems that replacing the DPFE should fix it. The problem is that I am having a hard time finding it. After looking at some pictures of the sensors then looking in the engine bay, none of the sensor pictures online match anything I am finding in the engine bay. Now maybe it is an upgraded part or something. Just wanted to see if someone had a pic of where exactly it is located on the 02s. If no pic maybe at least a location of it on that exact engine. Thanks guys for the help.

Check your PTFE sensor, that is usually the culprit. Also check the vacum lines that run to the EGR and the PTFE attached to teh EGR make sure there are no cracks or vacum leaks

It was the dpfe sensor. I replaced that. Now I am getting codes PO171 and PO174. From reading around here that seems to be common for a bad intake gasket. So I think I will replace that next. I need to do the valve cover gaskets anyways. Am I headed in the right direction??

HAHA yeah "DPFE" Not "PTFE" I don't think there is a Teflon sensor on these truck HAHAHAHA :D

Some days the brain fails to engage :dunno:

LOL np. I knew what u ment.

I thought the 'Teflon sensor', or PTFE sensor is what made the 4 wheel drive engage when things got 'slippery'....:)

Actually I think it's in the engine, so if you run slick-50 the computer automatically releases that extra 20 horsepower. It's an old trick to just bypass the sensor making the engine think your always running slick-50 thereby getting a free 20hp
